Many people still believe that Islam is reflected in the Arab tribalistic behavior. We need to remind ourselves and others that not all Arabs are Muslims and that the Majority of Muslims are Not Arabs. I still have much love for my Arab brothers and sisters though.

Imam Siraj Wahaj appears to be one of the voices of Muslim Americans and Islam in America. Along with other Imams like Hamza Yusef, Zaid Shakir, and a few others they offer our unique flavor of Islam. Yes there are different flavors of Islam. Look at how Islam in Gulf is different than North Africa, India, Turkey, Asia, and other parts of Africa. They are all valid, so our flavor would be no less valid. Takbeer!!!

It feels my heart with joy to hear of new Islamic Schools being opened. However, it is very important that the schools emphasize the academic curriculum as much as the Islamic studies. Otherwise, the students will be at a disadvantage when they compete for jobs and scholarships.

Normally, I dislike dialouges at Christmas time when other religions, especially Islam, are highlighted to show how much they have in common with Christianity & Christmas
and how non-foreign they really are. This article does a decent job of show a balance image of Islam against the "see how much it is like Christianity" tone of the article.
